A YouTube highlights reel might just have changed Cassie Staples' future, as the newest Aussie Sevens debutant contemplates a crazy six month journey.
She'd played netball for most of her life to that point, but opted to make the switch with trainer Jusitn Lang.
The pair worked to put some of her training vision on YouTube, as Staples worked her way through Sevens tournaments.
Her highlights reel from the Darwin 7s was an addition that was picked up by NSW high performance manager Tim Rapp and Aussie Sevens coach Tim Walsh.
"I just train in the south Sydney area with Justin lLang and wanted to make the switch to rugby and we tried sevens and it worked," she said.
"We just put somethings on line - speed work, footwork, ball skills, and I think obviously the right people saw it, so that as a good thing for me.".
It wasn't long before she came to train with the Olympic champions and now the former Sutherland Sharks netballer has found herself on a plane to Canada. to make her World Series debut in Langford.
While it's been a whirlwind ride, Staples doesn't want the occasion to get to her.
"At this stage just enjoying the experience, have fun and do the things I've been doing well and hopefully perform well with the girls," she said.
The Aussie Sevens leave for Canada this weekend, ahead of their penultimate World Series leg.
