Super U20s Preview: Can NSW Gen Blue stop QLD?

Queensland U20s will shoot for their second straight Super U20s title when they host NSW Gen Blue at Ballymore on Sunday.

After going through the inaugural 2016 season undefeated, Brad Thorn and Paul Carozza's team have been head and shoulders above the rest again in 2017.

If they are to claim their second straight title, they may have to do it without their chief playmaker, though, as Hamish Stewart has been called into the Reds squad for their clash with the Hurricanes tomorrow night.

Isaac Lucas is a more than capable replacement at flyhalf but Stewart has arguably been the competition's best player and Queensland will miss his organisational skills as much as they will his booming right boot.

It's understood Stewart will play on Sunday unless Reds flyhalf Jake McIntyre goes down early in the Canes game but he has been left out of the squad as a precaution.Queensland could be without Hamish Stewart for the Super U20s final. Sam Edwards is back on the wing and is joined by Jayden Ngamanu at fullback, the pair both missing the trip to Canberra last week.

Gen Blue have made one change to the team that beat the Melbourne U20s en route to a berth in Sunday's final.

It is a near identical starting XV to the one that fell 36-10 the last time these two teams met, at Wests in Brisbane a fortnight ago.
