Super 20s round two preview

by Tom Logan

The second round of the Super 20s kicks off this weekend with some exciting blockbusters on the schedule.

The Brumbies open their campaign at home to a Melbourne Rebels side looking to bounce back after their 30-13 opening round loss to the Queensland and the Canberra-based boys are looking particularly strong in the halves with schoolboy prodigies Ryan Lonergan and Nick Jooste impressive.

Head coach Russell Ingram is pleased with how his squad is shaping up heading into their first match.

"We are very happy with the squad and we will be looking to kick on from the pre-season trial matches in which the team performed very well," Ingram said.

"We have a well-balanced team and are looking forward to seeing them go up against a very tough Rebels outfit."

The Brumbies U20s will take on the Melbourne Rebels U20s at Viking Park on Sunday, kickoff at 3:30pm AEDT, streamed LIVE on RUGBY.com.au

The Force were impressive in their 41-36 loss to the NSW Gen Blues side and will be desperate to kick start their season with a win against the Reds.

It's a tough task for Force coach Dwayne Nestor who knows all too well the task they face after the Reds ran out convincing 30-13 winners over the Rebels last week.

"The Reds are a really good team, they are big and strong and move the ball around the backs very well," he said.

"We are going to have to be at the top of our game to beat them."

"We are going to have to attack them so I have gone for an attacking team which I am looking forward to coaching this weekend."

The Western Force U20s kick off against the Queensland Reds U20s at Nedlands, 5:00pm (AEDT). The match will be live streamed on RUGBY.com.au
