Latham ruled out of Brisbane Tens

Chris Latham's fairytale return to the Queensland Reds has been cut short before it began, with hamstring soreness ruling him out of the Brisbane Tens.

Latham was set to light up Suncorp Stadium over the next two days as a wildcard but RUGBY.com.au understands he pulled up sore from training and has been subsequently ruled out.

The 41-year-old looked to be in superb physical shape throughout training this week and could be seen mentoring several Reds backs.

"I'm shattered," Latham said.Chris Latham and Taniela Tupou soak up the sunshine. Photo: rugby.com.au/Stu Walmsley"I went to take off at training yesterday and it felt a bit tight but I kept going and eventually it just got tighter and tighter so eventually I pulled up and stopped.

"I didn't want to take up space of someone who will get more out of it than I will so we decided this would be for the best.

"If I get another opportunity I would be definitely be up for take two - it's a great concept and I would have loved to have played it in my playing days, let alone now."

Reds fans will still get some blast from the past with Radike Samo still expected to suit up today.

The Reds take on the Crusaders, Blues and Samoa in their Brisbane Tens pool.
