Reds cult hero Radike Samo will be donning the Queensland jersey once again, named as the side's second Brisbane Tens wildcard.

Samo joins Chris Latham as one of two wildcards to line up for the Reds at this weekend's Tens and the announcement comes a week after he led the Classic Fijians at the Sydney Sevens.

"I was a bit surprised when they called up - I got a text on Tuesday early in the morning asking if I was keen to play - I still enjoy my footy so I'm looking forward to Saturday," he said.

"I don't think I've still got the speed but I still enjoy rugby - I think I've still got a bit of pace in me but we will see how it goes on the weekend."

While he was doubtful the call up was provoked by his performance in the Sydney Sevens Legends match, Samo remains quietly confident he will make an impact in a format of rugby he has played before.

"The body is doing okay, last week I went to Sydney to play the Sevens which was a bit of fun so it will be good to go there tomorrow and play with the boys - I'm looking forward to it," he said.

"I played a few Tens tournaments before but the last time I played was the Hong Kong Tens two years ago - I played for the Asia Pacific Dragons and we won - it was good to play with some of the legends of the game and some of the current (Fijian) Sevens stars as well."

Reds coach Nick Stiles said having players like Latham and Samo on board would be a major boost to the side.

“It’s great to be able to bring back a couple of experienced, older heads who have plenty of knowledge and passion they can pass on to the players.”

The Reds take on Samoa, the Blues and the Crusaders in their Tens pool, with the competition kicking off on Saturday.
