Eto Nabuli has avoided serious injury, after a heavy collision in Queensland Country’s loss to the Melbourne Rising.

The Country and Queensland Reds winger was taken to hospital with a suspected neck injury after a clash with Melbourne’s Ah-Mu Tuimalealiifano.

Scrambling in defence, Nabuli was attempting a last-ditch tackle on the Rising rookie as Melbourne went within reach of securing the lead.

Nabuli was kept in hospital for observation overnight and was cleared of any head, neck or spine injuries.

The former NRL winger will be discharged from hospital on Monday, though it remains to be seen whether he will suit up for the Country when they face Sydney Rays this Saturday.

Nabuli’s NRC campaign will be crucial for his development, after his debut Super Rugby season for the Reds.

Queensland Country is winless to start the season, after the Rising pulled off a remarkable comeback in round two of the NRC.
