The Melbourne Rebels have continued to shore up their outside back stocks, re-signing winger Dom Shipperley for one more year.

Shipperley, whose 2016 season was curtailed by injury, has penned just a one-year extension, taking him into his third season with Melbourne after moving south from the Queensland Reds.

The 25-year-old will be part of a star-studded wing department next year, with Marika Koroibete, Sefa Naivalu and Tom English all a part of the 2017 squad.

The capped Wallabies back said he was looking forward to another year in Melbourne.

“It’s exciting, especially with a couple of key playmakers here next year and a couple good friends as well, so it’s good to keep the group together,” he  said.

“I am really keen to get back on the field, enjoy my rugby and help drive the club.

Rebels rugby general manager Baden Stephenson said Shipper;ey’s form prior to the injury showed enough to prove his value to the team.

“Dom is very highly regarded in our organisation. A smart person and player who brings consistency, balance and professionalism every day,” he said.

“Dom was in great form prior to his injury so we look forward to seeing him return and play an influential role on and off the field in 2017.”
