The Brumbies will take the Australian conference lead into the Test break after a 10 try, 66-5 win over the Sunwolves.

In their biggest score of the season, the Brumbies had the bonus point all but wrapped up half an hour in, after four quickfire tries had them 28 points in front.

That victory draws them level on points with the Waratahs but a superior points difference puts them at the top of the conference

The Sunwolves fought hard through the match but even when they could string periods of pressure together, they were unable to punish the Brumbies the other way.

A yellow card to Sunwolves lock Hitoshi Ono for a backwards headbutt gave the Brumbies an extra man advantage heading into the break.

Scott Fardy opened the scoring in the first half, before Stephen Moore, scrumhalf Michael Dowsett and winger Nigel Ah Wong put them in control.

Once Moore nabbed his first career double, it was time for him to head to the bench, preserving his body for a looming Wallabies campaign.

Brumbies tighthead Ruan Smith repaid the faith of coach Stephen Larkham with a standout performance in the front row.

Christian Lealiifano once again led his team in attack and was deadly accurate with the boot, kicking five from five in the match.

With a number of early substitutions, it was the Brumbies’ younger brigade that had to step up late and that is exactly what they did.

Youngsters Jordan Jackson-Hope and James Dargaville claimed two Brumbies tries as the margin continued to blow out, with replacement winger Lausii Taliauli and Ah Wong sealing the deal in the dying minutes.

Akihito Yamada snatched a sole try for the Sunwolves, keeping him at the top of the Super Rugby tally, in the 67th minute.

The Brumbies take on the Reds in Canberra after the June Test break.
