The Ricoh Black Rams have announced Bernard Foley won't be returning to Japan next season.
Foley had signed a two-year deal with the Top League franchise as part of an ARU flexible contract, though that second-year option was believed to be made in the flyhalf's favour.
Ricoh posted news of his departure on their website on Friday, confirming that Foley had elected not to play another season at the club.
The move means Foley will be available for all Wallabies Tests this season, after playing almost a 12-month rugby year.
The Waratahs and Wallabies 10 missed the first month of the Super Rugby season with a shoulder injury, on his return from Japan.
Concerns were raised after that injury about possible burnout but Foley dismissed those worries.
That rest might have been a blessing in disguise for Foley, who has been the driver of a Waratahs resurgence in his return.
