Jim Carmichael will quit his post at QRU CEO today, after initially intending to resign at the end of the season.
Carmichael announced his impending resignation in March and after discussions with the board.
Chairman Damien Frawley said
“Jim and I have been speaking since March and there have been a number of things he and I wanted him to finalise before his departure," he said.
"When Jim arrived at Ballymore from Melbourne in 2009 there was huge uncertainty around the game and this organisation.
"His prior business experience outside Rugby allowed him to come to us with a fresh perspective.
Frawley praised Carmichael's influence in his years at the Reds.
“During Jim’s seven years as CEO, QRU has experienced considerable growth in Rugby participation and Reds membership," he said.
"I’d like to thank Jim for his significant contribution. We wish him and his family well for the future. It is an all consuming role.”
The QRU has hinted that a permanent CEO appointment is coming soon, with Daniel Herbert and Dave Hanham to take over day-to-day operations for now.
