Adam Ashley-Cooper’s Bordeaux took out a scrappy win over Toulon on Monday morning, beating their visitors 15-12 in the Top 14.

The Wallabies back was one of five Australian  internationals that featured in the tryless match, playing alongside prop Sekope Kepu and against Quade Cooper, James O’Connor and Drew Mitchell.

Yellow cards  to Springbok Duane Vermeluen and Kiwi Ma’a Nonu put Toulon on the back foot twice in the low-scoring affair.

Cooper played the full game at flyhalf in the close loss, continuing to establish himself at his new club, while O’Connor played at fullback.

Wallabies winger Mitchell was injected into the match in the 51st minute.

PREMIERSHIP

George Smith made 17 tackles for Wasps as they thrashed Premiership ladder leaders Saracens 64-23.

Smith played the full match at openside as Wasps moved to fourth in the overall standing, with 10 carries as well as his impressive defensive tally.

With Saracens contributing eight representatives to England’s Six Nations squad, an upset was in the offing from the start and Smith’s Wasps took advantage of the opportunity.

PRO12

Lock Mark Chisholm played 62 minutes in Munster’s 17-21 loss to Ospreys on Monday morning.

Munster sits just one spot ahead of Ospreys in the Pro12 standings, with Chisholm’s side in sixth  after 13 games.

SIX NATIONS

Eddie Jones has continued his  successful start to 2016, with a 40-9 win for England over Italy overnight.

The Wallabies will be watching their progress closely ahead of this year’s June series and so far, so good for the former Australian mentor with wins over Italy and Scotland.
