Qantas Wallabies announce team base for Rugby World Cup

by Staff Writer

The Qantas Wallabies have confirmed their team bases for the 2015 Rugby World Cup with The University of Bath and Dulwich College in southeast London to host the side during the tournament’s group stages.

The two locations were the preferred options of coach Ewen McKenzie and will offer an ideal preparation ahead of Australia’s pool games against England, Wales, Fiji and a yet to be determined opponent.

The University of Bath will host Australia for their opening two matches before the team relocates to Dulwich College for their two key match-ups against tournament hosts England and Wales.

“A lot of time and planning has gone into researching team bases for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, with the complex nature of the tournament meaning you need to get your off-field planning right,” McKenzie said.

“We’re extremely pleased to be hosted by The University of Bath and Dulwich College and are confident they’ll offer the best platform for our preparations during the group stages.”

The global announcement of team bases were made by the International Rugby Board on Tuesday, with the 20 participating nations to be hosted by 41 unique venues across the tournament.

The University of Bath is a premier higher education institution in England, renowned for its campus grounds. Previously, the university hosted athletes during the 2012 London Olympics.

Dulwich College is an independent boy’s school and one of the largest of its kind in the United Kingdom, which also boasts a strong sporting tradition.

Following the group stages, eight bases will be confirmed by the IRB for use during the knockout phase of the tournament.
