England recall Strettle for Ireland clash

by Staff Writer

England have recalled wing David Strettle into their starting side for the Six Nations international against Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday.

Strettle, who withdrew on the eve of England's 24-22 win against France in Paris last weekend with a chest injury, was the only change to the XV named by interim coach Stuart Lancaster on Thursday.

Saracens flyer Strettle replaced Gloucester wing Charlie Sharples, his stand-in against France.

On the bench, Bath hooker Lee Mears comes in for Rob Webber, who suffered a shoulder injury at the Stade de France.

England still have a mathematical chance of winning the Six Nations title, although Grand Slam chasers Wales's points difference advantage of plus 38 leaves them in pole position.

If England are to end up on top of the standings they must beat Ireland comprehensively and hope Wales suffer a thumping defeat to France in Cardiff.

England XV: Ben Foden, Chris Ashton, Manu Tuilagi, Brad Barritt, David Strettle, Owen Farrell, Lee Dickson, Ben Morgan, Chris Robshaw (capt), Tom Croft, Geoff Parling, Mouritz Botha, Dan Cole, Dylan Hartley, Alex Corbisiero.

Replacements: Lee Mears, Matt Stevens, Tom Palmer, Phil Dowson, Ben Youngs, Charlie Hodgson, Mike Brown.
