Australian Rugby Union has today considered the historic review commissioned earlier this year into the game’s Corporate Governance.
The ARU Board will release the report once key constituents have been furnished with the document – and had an opportunity to discuss the contents, recommendations and findings.
The Corporate Governance report was conducted independently, by former Assistant Treasurer and Sports Minister Mark Arbib.
ARU’s Governance and Policy Committee, chaired by General (Ret.) Peter Cosgrove AC MC, received the report and presented recommendations to the Board today.
The ARU Board announced the review on 27 April 2012.
“Our current Governance structure needed to be looked at, best practices for sport considered, and cognisance given to the fact our game has evolved rapidly in the professional era,” said ARU chairman Michael Hawker.
“We now look forward to communicating with stakeholders in regards to the report and recommendations.
“There will also be full transparency once those stakeholder discussions have taken place. We will publish the report, and the Board’s findings.
“I also want to thank Mark Arbib for the dedication and commitment he devoted to this work.”
