Awards for students

Teachers can acknowledge students who demonstrate the Spirit of Rugby on and off the field, through the Spirit of Rugby Medal and/or the Spirit of Rugby Certificate

The Spirit of Rugby Evaluation Form identifies positive behaviours and values associated with upholding the Spirit of Rugby and allows teachers and students to evaluate performances on and off the field.

The Spirit of Rugby behaviours and values are reflected in the  ARU Expectations of Behaviour Guidelines  and the National Framework for Values Education in Australian Schools.

Spirit of Rugby Medal

One (1) student from each EdRugby school can be nominated, by a teacher from that school, to receive the Spirit of Rugby Medal in 2007. The Spirit of Rugby Medal can be awarded to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Play in a regular, inter-school Rugby Union competition
  • Demonstrate the Spirit of Rugby

Students receive:

  • An Australian Rugby Union Spirit of Rugby Medal
  • An Australian Rugby Union Certificate

Teachers could use the Spirit of Rugby Medal as part of their Rugby season and in conjunction with the school's Sport Presentation Evening, Rugby Dinner or other suitable occasion. Where parental/school permission is given, selected students may also be showcased on the ARU website.

Nominate one (1) student from your school NOW! The EdRugby team will respond to your nomination within 2-3 weeks. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, 1 December, 2007.
