Congratulations to the following students who were recently nominated and selected to receive the Spirit of Rugby Medal.
Patrick Ryan, 18 years, Monaro High School, NSW

"Pat is a natural leader. He has been the Open Boys Team Captain for the past 2 years. He was nominated by his peers including those in the year above last year. His dedication to the development of Rugby has been obvious in his coaching and refereeing roles. This has seen him earning a club captain type role and from this he has promoted tolerance and inclusion amongst all the teams.
Rugby playing experience:
Competes in the Waratah Shield and the Yeates Shield.
Christopher Edwards, 16 years, Hunter Valley Grammar School, NSW
Nominated by Teacher in Charge and Coach of the 1st XV, John Guy
"Christopher is the Captain of the Under 16s and Forward leader of the 1st XV. He benefits the team through his knowledge and direction. He was selected as the Best and Fairest player and is a diligent and punctual trainer. He also assists the coaches of other teams."
Rugby playing experience:
Played in a number of interschool competitions. As part of the 1st XV he played in the statewide Waratah Shield and Yeates Shield. As a member of the Under 16s, Chris also played in a number of other tournaments.
Jamie McIntosh, 11 years, St. Mary's Primary School Crookwell, NSW

"Jamie is an excellent example of what the spirit of rugby stands for. As well as playing the game with a lot of skill, he is a model team player and shows respect to both the opposition and referee."
Rugby playing experience:
Participated in school gala days hosted by Brumbies Rugby, Captain of St. Mary's Peter Lucas Cup side, rep player for Canberra/Goulburn Archdiocesan team, plays every Friday night in Goulburn U12 Competition.
Sonny Scott, 17 years, Illawarra Christian School Tongarra, NSW

"Sonny has been the captain of the team for 2 years. Has led the team with enthusiasm and skill. He has successfully encouraged several players to begin playing in the local Illawarra Saturday Competition."
Rugby playing experience:
Plays in Local Christian Schools competition including gala days and individual school competitions.
Kevin Hall, 17 years, Innisfail State High School, Queensland

"Kevin led by example playing on field with passion and pride, and proves to be an inspirational role model to his team mates. He is also involved with younger teams."
Rugby playing experience:
Kevin played in the Cairns district rugby union competition, has gained selection in the peninsula regional team, and has also represented North QLD against Japan.
Nicholas Collie, 17 years, Grafton High School, NSW
Nominated by PE Teacher and Rugby Coach, Craig Howe
"Nicholas competes within the rules to his best ability every game. He assists with the coaching of the schools U15 team. He actively encourages all players in the team to play their best."
Rugby playing experience:
NSW CHS made final this year, as well as finalists in the Silver Fern Kooga Cup.
Sam Sitauti, 16 years, Lyneham High School, ACT

"Sam leads by example, both on and off the field. He shows high levels of personal integrity in his attitude to his team mates opposition and officials."

Captain of school team in the Brumbies Shield Competition - a public school Rugby competition in the ACT.
Brodie Sorrensen, 15 years, St Mary's College, Maryborough, Queensland

"An enthusiastic member of the school team. He is first to arrive at training and last to leave, he's always willing to assist."
Rugby playing experience:
Represents the school in the Under15 boys interschool Rugby competition in the Fraser District. Brodie was also selected to represent the Wide Bay district at the QLD schools U15 carnival in 2006.
Tanian Naude, 12 years, Barker College Junior School, NSW

"Tanian plays in the strongest independent primary schools competition in NSW. He is recognised by his peers as a leading player. By his coach and staff as a fair hardworking player who sets the standard rather than follow. Although not the most naturally talented player in the team his high work rate at both training and games makes him a most valuable player. Tanian loves his Rugby and represents his family and school with pride. His school is proud of him.

Rugby playing experience:
Barker College competes in the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (NSW). This competition is played throughout the winter season between May and August.
Keegan Parker, 12 years, Ryan Catholic College, Queensland

"As Captain of the school team he constantly provides leadership and instruction to fellow team mates on and off the field."
Rugby playing experience:
Represents the Townsville District Schools Rugby U12s competition. There are 8 teams in the competition which is held over 8 weeks.
Bradley Stubbs, 18 years, Quirindi High School, NSW

"Bradley displays a great deal of sportsmanship on all accounts showing how to win respectfully and deal with losing with dignity. He tries to act as a positive role model and endeavours to whom may not be as athletically gifted as himself."
Rugby playing experience:
Bradley has been a regular team member of many QHS rugby sides over the past 6 yrs. He played in a CHS knockout competitions both Open and U16 and in the LBK Prime Cup competition played in Tamworth.
David Ward, 17 years, Iona College, Queensland

"David is reliable with all aspects of game play. He has a relentless attitude as a back rower in difficult times."
