Teachers don't need to have had Rugby Union experience to help them grow and recognise participation in Rugby Union at their school. EdRugby gives access to a number of resources and activities to cater for all levels of experience and exposure to the game.

Walla Rugby is the fun, modified, non-tackling version of Rugby that provides an opportunity for boys and girls of all ages and abilities to safely play the game. Some of the modifications of Walla Rugby include:

•          smaller field size to ensure maximum player involvement

•          reduced number of players to increase participation

•          use of modified equipment

•          the tackle is replaced by a two handed tag

•          no pushing in scrums and jumping in lineouts

Importantly  Walla Rugby provides teachers with the opportunity to deliver a game to students that is safe and enjoyable, promotes teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship, and can be played by all students irrespective of their age, skill level or ability.

We are proud to produce a modified game that can be used in schools. Rugby Union is a game that develops leadership, teamwork, courage, sportsmanship and friendship.

EdRugby for the field includes:

  • access to the EdRugby Walla Challenge (getting students to organise and stage their own Rugby tournament using Walla Rugby - the modified, non-tackling version of Rugby Union);

  • Walla Ready PE Lessons -  designed to introduce students to the game of Walla Rugby, and easily included in PE Lessons;
  • Coaching Corner - information for those willing to get involved with teaching rugby at their school, catering for all levels;
  • Rugby Union contact information - State Unions can assist schools with information about sampling programs (TryRugby and Gala days) and other Rugby Union activities.
