Suggested learning activities

  1. Download and distribute the Values and Issues in Sport worksheet to students. Alternatively, ask students to copy the table below in their notebooks.
  2. Ask students to listen to the audio files of John Roe and record both his views and experiences and their own.
  3. Ask students to compare similarities and differences between their experiences and those of John Roe and share their findings with the class.
  4. Discuss with students why people's views might differ in relation to certain values and issues in sport, e.g. age, beliefs, gender etc.
  5. Ask students to conduct an interview using questions about the topics John Roe discussed, with a person that is the same age or older than them.
  6. Invite students to share their findings and reflect on why answers may vary.
