ARU Corporate Values
Stimulus material
Australian Rugby Union (ARU) Corporate Values. This presentation summarises the 6 values which ARU employees felt best reflected the culture and ethos of the ARU working environment, i.e. pride, integrity, innovation, teamwork, energy and professionalism.
The ARU Corporate Values were selected by a committee of ARU employees from each ARU department, who met on several occasions throughout 2005.
Suggested learning activities
- Introduce the 6 ARU Corporate Values. Ask students the following questions:
Why would it be important for an organisation, like the ARU, to identify values which underpin the organisation?
What do you think each of the ARU values mean?
Do you think the images used in the slide presentation illustrate the values effectively?
Can you think of examples of these values in action at our school?
Ask students what they think their school values are. Discuss where these values might be written down e.g. school mission statement, school motto, school newsletter etc. Challenge students to find out about the school's values and record them in their notebooks.
Discuss reasons for any similarities and differences between the school's values and the ARU's corporate values.
Challenge students to design a presentation that represents one or more of the school's values. Brainstorm with students the types of presentations that could be developed e.g. PowerPoint presentation, and allow enough time for students to learn any new skills required to develop their presentation.
Invite students to share their presentations with the class. Additionally, display students' presentations in the classroom and/or around the school. Encourage students to identify and recognise class members and other students who demonstrate one or more of the school values.
