Contacting schools

It is important to let the schools in your local area know about the Rugby season ahead and your club's sign-on day details.

You could send a letter from your club President to the school principal or sports coordinator. You may also want to include with the letter a copy of the media release - see PR & Media tips - with the details of your club's registration day. This will make it easy for the school to include details of your club's registration day in it's newsletter. Its always worthwhile following up with a call to the school to make sure they've received the information and to see if they have any questions.

You may also want to arrange a school visit. A school visit could include:

  • a broad-based practical session, conducted in a lesson format;
  • a school talk either in classes or at assembly;
  • a stall set up before or after school; or
  • a face-to-face meeting with the sports coordinator.
