About the resources

The Australian Rugby Union recognises the importance of club administrators and volunteers in contributing to the successful running of Rugby clubs. The education and upskilling of our club administrators and volunteers is critical in improving the administrative competencies of our volunteer workforce and raising the standard of governance within Rugby.

The Running Your Club administration resources provide volunteer club administrators with a variety of content,  resources, templates and checklists, tailored to the local Rugby club, that can assist you in "running your club".

The Running Your Club administration resources consist of seven (7) key elements that provide the cornerstone to the successful administration of clubs, including:

1) Planning - Planning is an essential element in ensuring your Rugby club enjoys continuing success. This section provides a framework and tools which clubs can utilise in developing and implementing their respective planning documents.

2) Financial Management - Sound financial management is vital to the club's sustainability. This section provides club treasurers and committee members with the fundamentals in financial management and sponsorship.

3) Governance -  Effective governance is an important ingredient in the ongoing growth and success of an organisation. This section reviews governance frameworks, roles, procedures and protocols and legal and legislative requirements that enable clubs to legally and financially protect themselves.

4) Facilities -  Securing a good home ground is not always easy. This section explores different avenues available to clubs for tenure of facilities, reviews relationships with key stakeholders and analyses facilities planning and grants.

5) Volunteer Management - Volunteers the life blood of all Rugby clubs. No club can function without help from good volunteers and staff.  This section outlines the 7 key functions of managing volunteers and provides position description templates for various roles within the club.

6) Game Management -  Game management practices and protocols are key to providing a fun and safe environment for both participant and administrators alike. This section outlines the Laws and Regulations of the Game, ARU policy and procedures and match management protocols.
