World Cup-winning Rugby Sevens star Alex Hargreaves is just as potent in the traditional version of the game and has stamped her authority as one of the primary backrowers in Australian Women’s Rugby since her debut for the Wallaroos in 2002. After a four year absence from the top side, Alex was reinstated as a popular selection for the 2006 World Cup and has been a permanent fixture in the team ever since. A teacher by trade, Alex enjoys surfing, camping, bike riding and wake boarding when away from the classroom. A self-confessed “Lady Gaga” fan, Alex has been dubbed ‘Arex’ by the playing group after a Japanese teammate struggled to pronounce her name. The 29-year-old names the 2010 Hong Kong Sevens as her favourite tournament of her career.
