Australian Rugby Union today unveiled a massive pre-match show for this weekend’s third and deciding Test of the DHL Australia 2013 Lions Tour at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
Following performances from Colin Hay in Brisbane and Guy Sebastian in Melbourne, three Australian Rock legends are set to light up ANZ Stadium from 7:30pm, kicking off what will be an incredible night of Rugby.
Daryl Braithwaite, Joe Camilleri and Ross Wilson will join together on stage to perform three of their classic hits in the build-up to the biggest Test on Australian soil since the 2003 Rugby World Cup Final.
Performing his Gold hit single One Summer, Daryl Braithwaite will kick-off the Aussie rock line-up before former Black Sorrows front man Joe Camilleri delivers his classic, Chained To The Wheel.
Ross Wilson, formerly of Daddy Cool fame, will cap off the massive Aussie rock line up with his chart topping hit – Eagle Rock.
After spending 10 weeks in the number one position in 1971, Eagle Rock has maintained its status as a popular rock anthem with every generation since its release.
The pre-match show will also include an Acknowledgment of Country, followed by a performance from the Qantas Choir and a specially cut highlights package from the opening two Tests of the DHL Australia 2013 Lions Tour before the Aussie rock trio light up ANZ Stadium.
ARU CEO, Bill Pulver said the pre-match show planned for Saturday evening reflected the excitement the series decider was creating.
“After the Qantas Wallabies heart-stopping win last weekend in Melbourne all eyes will be on ANZ Stadium this weekend,” Mr Pulver said.
“The level of anticipation has exploded and on Saturday evening ARU will deliver a pre-match show to celebrate what has been a wonderful series thus far.
“Three icons of the Australian music scene will set the stage for what I am sure will be an incredible Test between two very evenly matched teams.
“As with the first two Tests we are again expecting a capacity crowd at ANZ Stadium and I strongly advise fans travelling to the game to plan their trips now, arrive early and enjoy an historic night.”
All tickets to the clash between the Qantas Wallabies and British & Irish Lions at ANZ Stadium include entry and travel on CityRail trains, Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Bus Services, regular Sydney Buses (STA), Liverpool to Parramatta T-way buses and Sydney Ferries services.
